Goa civic body initiates online water bill payment facility; more such initiatives to take place

Currently, as many as 121 government services are already available online

Summer this year is hotter than usual and now just imagine lining up outside 'Jal vibhaags' to pay your water bills in this scorching heat? Well, Goan authorities in a move to save you from the blistering heat and improve the public services, introduced an online payment service for water bills. This is the second such enhancement done by the Goan authorities in recent years.

Aiming to ease everyday procedures for the Goan residents, CM Pramod Sawant has instructed all government departments to move most of their services online. Notably, with the current developments, residents can now pay their water bills online via the indigenously developed UPI platform Bharat Pay, as opposed to PWD’s web payment method which was marred by many glitches.

Remember those days, when a trip to the government office to pay a basic bill would end up taking your entire day? The long, never-ending queues would end up testing the patience of even the best of us. Stressing the urgent need to ditch the long queues of uncertainty outside government offices, the CM talked about how moving government facilities online was also in line with the implementation of the state Government’s Goa 2.0 programme.

The CM also informed that the scheme providing 16,000 litres of free water per household has not been stopped and is being availed by as many as 1.3 lakh households currently! Additionally, provisions for the payment of water bills 24x7 through an ATP (Any time payment) machine is also in progress.
