Daily COVID positivity ratio dips below 1% in Goa

With 35 fresh cases on Monday, the tally of active patients stands at 647 in Goa.

Bringing some respite for the state residents, Goa witnessed the month's lowest number of fresh COVID infections on Monday. As per records, 35 fresh cases were marked in the state yesterday. With these new infections, the state now has a total of 647 active cases while the recoveries exceeded the new detections by a large margin. Adding to this, the daily COVID positivity ratio came down to 0.9% on Monday

Recovery rate nears 98% in Goa

As per official figures, 97 people have recovered from this viral disease in the last 24 hours. With this addition, the total recovery count of the state now stands at 1,73,171 cases, while the total cumulative case count stands at 1,77,148, to date. Consequently, the recovery rate of Goa has also shown a slight increase from before, reaching 97.8%. On the grim side, a total of 3,330 fatalities have been recorded in the state till now.

Notably, the entire eligible population of Goa has already taken at least one jab of the COVID vaccine. Purportedly, the state government now aims to fully inoculate all beneficiaries by October 31.

Tourism activities revived in Goa

In a bid to revive the economy of the state, the state government had reopened all the major tourism activities in the state last month, upon the recommendation of the Goa Task Force. At present, all casinos, spas and nightclubs are allowed to function at 50% capacity. However, a negative COVID test report or full vaccination certificate is mandatory to enter such spaces.

Besides, offline examinations for students of classes XI and XII are also permitted in the state. As per reports, the state authorities will formulate a decision for opening all schools after Diwali.
