Keeping the larger goal of the safety of residents in mind, the government of Goa has extended the ongoing curfew restrictions. The curfew shall be implemented till 7 AM of 12 July and as the Chief Minister took to Twitter to announce this, he also mentioned that all shops in the state can remain open between 7 AM to 6 PM, daily. Earlier, the state-wide curfew was supposed to end in the early hours of 5 July.
Salons & outdoor sport complexes can open
As per the latest announcement by the Chief Minister of Goa, the curfew has been extended till 12 July. However, shops have been allowed to open their doors to customers between 7 AM to 6 PM, on a daily basis. Further, salons and outdoor sports complexes or stadiums have also been granted permission to stay open.
In the wake of the increasing tally of COVID-19 infections and consequent death, the state-wide curfew in Goa was first imposed on 9 May. Since then, the government has extended the curfew on 6 occasions which has helped the government in deftly handling the situation.
Apart from this extension, the state has ramped up its border security protocols in order to prevent the entry of the Delta Plus variant from Maharashtra, where, by far, the highest number of cases of the same have been reported. Moreover, as per official statements, Goa is readying its medical infrastructure to keep the expected third wave at bay as well.
