On Tuesday, the Goan Government issued guidelines for all international passengers coming to the state. To prevent the spread of the Omicron virus, the passengers will have to undergo mandatory RT-PCR testing and self-isolation.
Passengers from ‘high-risk’ countries to be quarantined
Travellers coming in from the 12 ‘high-risk’ countries, where the Omicron variant has been detected, will have to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine, while others are also recommended to do so. The Government is likely to take a decision on chartered flights on Wednesday.
What is Omicron?
Omicron is the name given by the WHO to the latest variant of concern of the novel coronavirus. This highly mutated variant, which was first discovered in South Africa on 24 November, is more transmissible than its predecessors.
