If you too are a teacher, then take a cue from IIT Goa.

The IITs of India are famous for their tough entrance examination and the aptitude for innovation that they cultivate among their students. An example of this has been recently given by the Indian Institute of Technology, Goa, as the second-year Electrical Engineering students were asked to set a question paper to pass the exam! This unconventional method of evaluating students is being appreciated by netizens as a picture of the original question paper has gone viral on the internet.

In a 70-mark question paper, the Electrical Engineering Department of IIT Goa, decided to test the second-year students with just two questions. One of the questions instructed them to pen down a set of questions they think are suitable to judge the intellectual capabilities and training of their peers. The second question asked them to answer the question paper they had just prepared themselves.

Reportedly, this unorthodox testing method will be followed by an unorthodox grading method so that the entire evaluation process is fair towards the test-takers. Netizens are stating that this question paper tests students beyond the curriculum, by assessing the integrity they exercise when upgraded to the pedestal of a teacher. Some have resorted to humour and remarked- "Goa mein toh IITs bhi chill maarte hain."

This unconventional way of testing the educational training that students have received over the semester, in under 180 minutes, is being appreciated widely. If you too are a teacher who wishes to set an exam that can truly test the knowledge of your students- both within and beyond the set curriculum, take this cue from IIT Goa!
