The inaugural run of the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express has been flagged off today. The semi-high-speed train will cover a distance of 765 km, between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Goa’s Madgaon Station.
With 8 coaches, the train is equipped with a big screen TV for entertainment, sliding doors opening on platforms, and comfy chairs. Furthermore, the semi high-speed train will reduce the travel time between the two cities to around 8 hours.
Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat train will run tri-weekly during monsoon months
During these monsoon months, the train will take 10 hours to complete its journey. During the drier months, though, the Mumbai-Goa semi high-speed train will take around 7 hours and 45 minutes to complete its course. It is noteworthy that this will be Goa’s first Vande Bharat train.
According to Central Railway officials, the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat train will operate tri-weekly during the monsoon months. Once the rainy season is at bay, it will operate on all days of the week except Sunday.
Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Train: Stoppages, Fares & more
Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat travelling from CSMT to Madgaon Railway station (Train no. 22229) will depart at 05:25 AM from Mumbai to reach Madgaon station at 15:30 PM. This train will take stoppages at Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Khed, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, and Thivim.
The train making its return journey from Madgaon station to Mumbai’s CSMT (Train no. 22230) will depart at 12:20 AM from Goa, reaching the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 22:25 PM. This train will take stops at Thivim, Kankavali, Ratnagiri, Khed, Panvel, Thane, and Dadar.
The fare for on the CSMT-Madgaon Vande Bharat (Train No. 22229) will range from ₹1815 (AC Chair) to ₹3360 (Executive Chair Car). Similarly, ticket prices for the Madgaon-CSMT Vande Bharat (Train no. 22230) will range from ₹1970 (AC Chair) to ₹3535 (Executive Chair Car).
