One of India’s leading automobile companies, Tata Motors has tied up with the Department of New & Renewable Energy (DNRE) to deploy Tata Tigor EV electric subcompact sedans in the state. This latest batch of Tigor EVs are being supplied to the government by Tata, under the banner of their Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. (EESL) tender. The deal, which was signed way back in 2017, promises the disbursement of 10,000 electric vehicles in a graded manner, as per reports.

Recently at an event, the handover ceremony was convened by Goa’s Chief Minister, the Honourable Speaker of the state’s Legislative Assembly, the Chief Secretary and other senior officers of the Ministry. Tigor, which is an all-electric sedan, uses a 21.5 kWh battery pack that powers the electric motor with 40 bhp and 105 Nm of peak torque on offer. Athought it is not available for private buyers, this EV has been registered with Zoomcar as yet, to provide the sedan on a rental basis.
In close coordination with the government and other Tata Group companies, Tata Motors has been playing a key role in promulgating the idea of electric mobility adoption in India. The automobile giant has consistently catered to the evolving needs of customers for electric cars with the introduction of best-selling products in both fleet (Tigor EV, with a range of 140 km & 213 km) and personal segment (Nexon EV, with a range of 312 km), thereby commanding a market share of 71% in EVs (YTD FY21).
