The Purple Fest in Goa celebrating diversity and promoting inclusiveness now open for all

The one of a kind Purple Fest in Goa aims to help us transition into an all-inclusive society, changing the way we view disabilities.

Goa State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, in association with Directorate of Social Welfare and Entertainment Society of Goa, is hosting ‘The Purple Fest’ in Panaji, till January 8, 2023. It is India's first festival of inclusion and was inaugurated on January 6 by the eminent Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Dr. Virendra Kumar. 

This festival aims to incorporate the spirit of inclusiveness among people though grand exhibitions, immersive experience zones, discussions on subjects like inclusive education and independent living and a special sensitisation workshop.

Sensitisation Workshop on empowerment of persons with disabilities

As part of the festival, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, in association with Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (CCPD), is organising a two day Sensitisation Workshop at the festival.

The workshop will feature some of the best practices in the field of disability with a focus on improving accessibility addressing implementation related issues of various schemes and programmes for persons with disabilities. The workshop will also witness participation from stakeholders from all over the country.

The festival altogether aims to showcase how we can come together and create a more inclusive world for everyone.
