A training centre will be set up in Goa at an estimated cost of ₹200 crores for the upliftment of new enterprises and MSMEs (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) in the state. The training centre will ensure financial stability, ample employment opportunities and help develop industries in Goa, boosting the state’s, as well as the nation’s overall GDP.
Training centre to give boost to over 19,000 MSMEs in Goa
As per the Union government’s Udyam registration data, out of 1,07,78,485 MSMEs registered on the portal as of September 13, 2022, Goa is home to only 19,939 MSMEs.
Out of total units in the state, 18,957 are micro-enterprises, 876 are small businesses, and 106 are medium enterprises. District-wise, 11,610 MSMEs are in North Goa while 8,329 MSMEs are in South Goa.
The initiative intends to encourage and give boost to Micro and Small scale enterprise sector by providing appropriate skill and training, ensuring an MSME friendly environment. The training centre will enable organizations to realize their potential in terms of product and process development aiding them to take their ideas to the market.
Additionally, the move will facilitate innovation, and risk-taking ability by small and medium companies, bringing together the private industries, public institutions and the government under one roof to promote inclusive development in the state.
