Gomti Riverfront in Lucknow to have food stalls, by February!

Gomti Riverfront has long been one of the main attractions in Lucknow and owing to its pristine location, beside the Gomti, it is a favoured picnic and recreation spot.

However, when it comes to snacking options, riverfront remains deprived of options. Visitors generally carry along with them bags of food and refreshments, which they later throw around here and there. Now, the LDA is aiming to set up several food stalls in area so that people don’t have to bring in their own food.

In the area, LDA will install four food stalls by the month of February. One of the food stalls will be set up within the riverfront park, while the others will come up at the entrance of the park, near the parking area. Though the food stalls do not offer a variety of cuisine, it’s a nice addition to an already booming place. The stalls will offer packaged food, drinks and a few snacks for visitors to eat.

The LDA has also gone an extra step and will set up an adequate amount of dustbins in the entire area to ensure that visitors do not litter the park and the river. The LDA has partnered with a contractor to set up these stalls and dustbins.

In the past, Gomti Riverfront has been home to a few illegal food stalls which have been often removed by the LDA. This time around, since the food stalls are in partnership with the authority, we can be certain that they’ll stick around for a while.

An official in LDA said the contractor will charge around ₹18,000 per month from one stall and the collected amount will be used for the park’s maintenance. According to LDA estimates, the riverfront sees a daily footfall of up to 2,000 people. The count occasionally crosses 3,000 on weekends and holidays.
