The cricket fever broke the charm of the festivities when both the teams arrived in Lucknow on Monday to an astounding welcome. The excited cricket fans have been holding their breath in anticipation of the phenomenal event and the city itself has been waiting patiently for its maiden International T20. And in the midst of all the bustle, this name change has come as a big surprise for the fans after the proposal was approved by Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik.

According to the pact between Ekana sports city, LDA and GC construction, the stadium was to be named once the construction was completed, so the UP government took to the clause and changed the name in honor of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee who passed away this year in August.
