Bringing cheer to the country, Paralympian Prachi Yadav from India won a Bronze medal in the VL2 Women’s 200m Paracanoe World Cup in Poznan, Poland. Scripting a historic win, Prachi became the first canoeist from India to have won a World Cup Medal at International level. The para-canoe sprint athlete secured third place in this worldwide water-sport competition by crossing the line in 1:04.71.

Notably, this is not the first time that the para-canoeist from Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior has grabbed the limelight. Prachi is the first Indian to qualify for and reach the final in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo last year. This year, she managed to secure the third position after the winner Susan Seipel of Australia and the first runner-up Brianna Hennessy of Canada.
A remarkable show by Indian athletes in Men’s category
Meanwhile, India’s performance in the men’s category was also quite remarkable. For the first time in the history of this sport, two para-canoeists from India managed to reach the finals. Para-canoe sprint athlete Manish Kaurav secured a spot in the finale of the KL3 Men 200m category and Manjeet Singh reached the last round of VL2 Men 200m.
Jaideep in VL3 Men’s 200m category also showcased a commendable performance. The para-athlete reached the semi-final in this category of the World Cup competition.
