COVID positivity dips to 3.43% in India; 50,407 new COVID cases reported on Saturday

With Friday’s tally the country's total caseload has been pushed to 42,586,544, while the death toll stands at 5,07,981.
According to the daily bulletin released by the Ministry of Health on Saturday, a tally of 50,407 new COVID-19 cases was reported in India, down by at least 8,000 infections found the day before. This marks a 3.43% sustained dip in the positivity rate, bringing a sense of pandemic respite, across the country. The active case rate in India stands at 1.43% along with a booming 97.37% recovery record, as of February 12, 2022.

With a reduced fresh load of cases reported on Saturday, India's cumulative COVID-19 tally has clocked over the 42,586,544 mark. The national recovery count, on the other hand, stands at 4,14,68,120. cases along with 5,07,981 casualties. Only 1.43% of the total caseload is presently under active treatment, added reports.

These stats present a bettering graph of COVID-19 infection which can be attributed to high testing and fast vaccination. Reportedly, over 74.93 crore samples have been tested for COVID in India, as yet. Of them, more than 14,50,532 tests were conducted in just the last 24 hours.

As per the government data, a total of 1,72,29,47,688 vaccine doses have also been administered in the country, under the scope of the nationwide vaccination drive to date.

Relaxation of COVID-19 curbs across India

A number of states across the country have revoked all COVID-mandated restrictions, given the declining graph of COVID spread. Most regions have also reopened offline schools, suspended weekend curfews and eased the guest-caps at gatherings and weddings. Protocols at places of worship, restaurants, salons and swimming pools along with gyms have also been eased.

People are still advised to follow all COVID-19 appropriate protocols at a personal level to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Masks and social distancing are mandatory in all public places.
