Your beloved AirPods will be 'Made in India' once the new factory is up and running.

One of many Apple suppliers, Foxconn Interconnect Technology is planning to set up an Apple AirPod factory in Telangana. The new factory, which is projected to cost around $200 million, is reportedly a result of Apple Inc's request to set up a factory in India to boost engagement in country.

Apple suppliers gradually moving out of China

Owing to Covid restrictions in China and deteriorating Sino-US relations, several Apple suppliers are gradually moving out of China. And in the effort to reduce their reliance on China, they seem to have identified India as the perfect alternative to set up shop and start large-scale manufacturing of Apple products.

Furthermore, the plans to set up an AirPod plant in Telangana by Foxconn, the construction of which is expected to start in the second half of 2023, will be the first time the company will become a supplier of Apple's famous wireless headphones.
