The much-loved battle royale game was banned in July 2022 due to security concerns when the game was seen interacting with Chinese servers. A number of crimes committed across the country related to the game were also one of government's concerns.

But the 10-month long ban on BGMI has finally been lifted, albeit with a few caveats. According to reports, there will also be a time limit to restrict the number of hours a user can play the game.

Furthermore, the game will initially be available for a 3-month trial period under strict government monitoring. The game will get a permanent unbanned status only if it passes the trial period successfully, exactly what BGMI players in India would want. But if it fails to do so, BGMI could be banned again.
