In a remarkable placement schedule at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore, 26 students have successfully bagged job offers from one of Japan's leading companies, Rakuten. Overcoming the troubles propelled by the pandemic, these students nailed through the virtual recruitment drive conducted by the e-commerce and online retail firm. As per reports, each of these individuals has been offered an annual salary package of ₹40 lakhs.
26 selected out of 48 shortlisted candidates for the interviews
Reportedly, the company had permitted students from all branches of engineering, to sit for the placement program. After the preliminary round, a total of 48 students were shortlisted for the interviews. Now, 26 pupils have been finally selected and the offer letters shall be rolled out soon.
According to reports, the selected individuals come from various streams including electrical, mechanical, civil, computer science and others. While 24 of these are students of B.Tech seventh semester, the other are enrolled in the M.Tech course at the institute. They will join the company after the completion of the final year of their academic programs.

As per reports, Rakuten has a registered consumer base of 10 crore people in Japan while global tally stands at around 140 crore users. Recently, the company had made announcements about the proposed launch of NFT (Non Fungible Token) in 2022. Working on the blockchain technology, NFT allows buying and selling of assets and all transactions related to it are performed through cryptocurrency.
According to the company's website, India houses the prime development centre and technology hub of the group. The offices in the country deal with mobile and web development, web analytics, platform development, back-end engineering, data science, information security amongst other things.
