Oxygen plants set up across 20 hospitals in Indore to fight the expected third wave

The medical facilities have now got an aggregated supply of more than 60 tonnes of oxygen with the launch of the systems.

In view of the gruesome oxygen supply issues witnessed during the second wave of the pandemic, the authorities in Indore have amplified efforts to make the city self-sufficient. As per reports, oxygen plants have been installed across 20 hospitals in the city in an attempt to battle against the anticipated third wave of the virus. Reportedly, the medical facilities have now got an aggregated supply of more than 60 tonnes of oxygen with the launch of the systems.

More than 40 oxygen plants to be set up in total

According to reports, MTH, PC Seth Hospital, Chacha Nehru Hospital and other private centres have been asked to implement similar schemes for the setting up of oxygen plants. Further, reports state that the supply capacity of the current plant at the MTH centre has been upgraded and nearly 300 litres of oxygen is being produced every minute.

As per reports, more than 40 oxygen plants have to be set up in Indore at an estimated cost of more than ₹50 crores. While 20 centres have been provided with the new addition, the ongoing efforts attempt to complete the project by the end of August. Reportedly, hospitals in Indore were faced with a daily need of 135 tonnes of oxygen during the second wave. Now, it has been claimed that a daily requirement of 95 tonnes of oxygen can be met with and the officials are trying to increase the capacity.

Given that vaccination is the strongest weapon against the deadly virus, the authorities in Indore have deployed focused schedules in the city. As per records, 28,00,225 doses of the vaccine have been administered to citizens in Indore and this count is expected to amplify in the upcoming days.
