Each patrolling contingent will consist of police officers, women along with Nasus members, who will pedal on cycles in their respective areas.
In a bid to augment civic safety in Indore, a police team and city security committee members will soon launch cycle patrolling. The new surveillance force will work on a beat-wise format to monitor even the narrow and isolated areas of the district. Each patrolling contingent will consist of police officers, women along with Nasus members, who will pedal on cycles in their respective areas, read reports.
NUS members to be trained specifically for patrolling
Notably, this is the first time when NUS members will also be deployed to the patrolling teams. In the first phase, training will be given to these officials at police stations, informed Ashtosh Bagri, Superintendent of Police (East). The member will be placed under the supervision of the beat-in-charge and accompany the contingent during patrols.
According to the SP, a few samaritans will also be included in the Nasus force. This will enable the police to expand the scope and reach of its patrolling force, in areas where the police cannot penetrate. This additional team will further help the police officials keep up the task of surveillance when there is more work on the law enforcement department, during VIP movements and otherwise. The volunteer force will patrol on behalf of the officers, at the appointed time and update them with reports.
Each patrolling member will be given a criminal identifier record
Going by reports, a robust system of aware officers will be assigned to conduct the task of patrolling. Each member will be given a criminal identifier record, prepared by the DIG Manish Kapuria. A distinct book has been created for the advantage of the volunteers which consists of photos, symbols, mobile numbers and other related known information about local mischief gangs.
This list will include all chain robbers, vehicle thieves, etc. If a suspect is found during the patrol session, this book will help the officials confirm his identity on the spot and ensure quick arrest.
