New infections are more rampant in young adults.
Though the weekly fatality rate in Indore has been pegged as the highest in the ongoing third wave, most of the fresh cases here are being traced in the 21-40 year age category - similar to that of the second spell. These patients account for over 51% of all infections recorded in Indore. Statistically, only a smaller fraction of 9.72% of the cumulative load are elderly, over the age of 60 years. Health officials consider more exposure in the younger age groups a reason for this significant difference.
