Indore Metro's Foundation Stone to be laid on 14th September, 2019

For a long time, we've been hearing a lot about Indore Metro. By now, we know pretty much everything about the metro- its routes, timings and the trains themselves. Finally, after what seems like years of waiting, it has been confirmed that Indore Metro's foundation stone will be laid down on September 14, 2019. What's the update?

We've been waiting for Indore Metro to pick up speed for a really long time now. From signing MOUs to revamped metro routes, the project has undergone a whole lot of changes. Finally, there is a fixed date for when the actual construction of the metro will begin. 14th September 2019 is the date that has been fixed and it is one step closer to turning Indore metro into a reality.

Indore Metro corridors

From previous reports, we already know the route that Indore Metro takes. For the uninitiated however, here is a rundown of the phases, corridors and a few of the areas that Indore Metro will cover along its path.

As of now, 6 corridors of the metro have been proposed but the first one will be functional by 2023 and construction of the same will begin shortly.

This route will be a 31 Kilometre stretch that covers prominent areas in the city including residential and commercial complexes. Areas such as Bengali Square-Vijay Nagar-Bhawarsala-Airport-Palasia-Bengali Square will be connected via the metro and this will be a part of Phase I of the Indore Metro.

Other corridors include stations from Annapurna to Sukhliya, Super Corridor MR 10 to Ring Road and finally, Niranjanpur to Bhawarkua.

Most of these areas are high traffic ones and the fact that they're getting metro connectivity means that you can say goodbye to the long and winding traffic jams.

When can you expect to ride the metro?

As of now, the authorities who are planning and working on Indore Metro have stated that they expect to have Indore Metro functional by 2023. Though the wait is going to be long but it will be worth it. Indore Metro is one of the most highly anticipated projects and residents have high hopes from it.
