Former Indian Cricketer, Yuvraj Singh has lodged his name among the countless COVID heroes in the country who have stepped forward to fill in the gaps of medical infrastructure and otherwise for the benefit of those affected by the pandemic. This dynamic sports celebrity has extended the scope of his YouWeCan Foundation to set up a special COVID-19 critical care facility in Indore. The proposed centre will be equipped with 100 oxygenated beds, having 50% BiPAP and 10% ventilator-enabled beds.

A cancer survivor himself, Yuvraj Singh launched the YouWeCan Foundation as a simple medical provision in 2012 to aid those battling the peril of fatal cancer diseases. Through years of persistence, the NGO shape shifted to become a national movement against cancer, empowering over 3,50,000 people to defeat cancer through awareness, prevention, early detection, patient support and survivor empowerment.
However now, the agency has included yet another mission under its wings which aims to eliminate the threat of COVID-19 infection. As per reports, the Foundation has sent a letter to the MGM Medical College Deen in Indore, requesting the constitution of a critical COVID facility for those fighting the infection.
The NGO has also shortlisted an index of vendors for directly supplying the infrastructure requirements of the promised provision, on an urgent basis. This, the letter reads, will assist to save more lives amid the second wave threat of the coronavirus. The letter further promises that the project will be executed with 10 to 15 days of the College approval.
YouWeCan and COVID aid
Earlier also, the YouWeCan Foundation had risen to meet the demand created due to the pandemic in 2020 and donated over a million hygiene kits, in collaboration with PayTM and LifeBuoy. This aid was mobilised to as many as 14 state governments in the country.
The volunteers here have previously engaged to conduct several awareness campaigns about the pandemic rise and control with close association with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and even global agencies such as WHO and UNICEF.
