After a halt of four months, the Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore resumed the operation of flights after 11:00 PM. The night flight services were restored from August 1 and a total of 35 flights operated on the day, including the last flight taking off post 11:00 PM to Bangalore.
Indore Airport can now accommodate large carriers
The halt of night operations at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport was introduced on March 27 due to the NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions) restrictions, directing towards the expansion of the runway to accommodate large carriers like Boeing 777.
With the runway expansion now complete, smooth landing and takeoff of VVIP or bigger aircrafts will be ensured. As per the summer schedule, at least seven flights were proposed to start their operations from Indore. However, due to the runway expansion, they could not be started. More flights are expected to be introduced in the winter flight schedule which would come into effect by October.
24×7 operations and flight movement have now been restored at the Indore Airport. As per the officials, two flights including Indigo’s Indore-Pune flight and Air India’s Dubai-Indore flight will likely start operations to and from Indore by next week.
