Locals in Indore are no strangers to the traffic problems arising on account of the Indore Bypass. Herein, its certain sections have become infamous for causing traffic congestions for hours. Owing to the concerns, the Urban Development and Housing Minister recently convened a meeting that involved various departments, including the Municipal Corporation.

The resolution reached was to implement four-lane service roads on both sides of the bypass. These roads aim at providing alternative routes, in turn, mitigating congestion and facilitating a smoother traffic flow. For the same, ₹200 crore will be allocated for the project.

Other infrastructural projects were also discussed during the meeting. This included construction of an integrated sports complex, building of filter stations to enhance the water supply system and, thus, solve water distribution problems faced by residents, among other concerns. Focussing on the ongoing water crisis in Indore, pipelines are slated to soon be laid on the Ujjain Road and AB Road towards Dewas so that colonies in these areas are able to receive water from the Narmada river.
