In the midst of their receding population, the survey to count vultures in Indore was held again, after three years. The survey, which began on Friday, covered up to 900 forest areas, spread across the 33 districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Survey report to be submitted this week
In the Indore Forest Division alone, the vulture survey was conducted by 30 forest workers for a period two days. Notably, vultures sitting on the grown and trees are the ones included in the count. The vulture count in Indore during the last survey was found to be 117, spotted at 36 different locations.
Furthermore, each forest division has to submit the survey report in four to five days after the field work is completed. It is noteworthy that the vulture species usually spotted in the Indore forest division are of the Aegyptia.
