New initiatives to make Indore one of India's largest education hub

Each Madhya Pradesh district to get 'Well-equipped' colleges.

To provide better infrastructure and add to the existing list of institutes, the government of Madhya Pradesh is aiming to equip each district with a college under the 'well-equipped' category. This drive is expected to move to block levels later, as well. As per Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Ministry, various measures are being undertaken to make Indore the biggest educational hub in India.

Indore eing the only city that has both IIT and IIM is already considered as a centre for learning and education. The efforts of the state administration to further the agenda of education is expected to make it an even bigger hub for education in India. According to the official, the administration is striving to implement the new education policy in the state as well.

529 colleges functional in MP currently

Reportedly, in the last 5 years, the state the witnessed opening of 11 new colleges. With these new additions, the total number of colleges in Madhya Pradesh has reached a total of 529 colleges including 40 private universities and 16 government universities. Additionally, after the proposal from professors and vice-chancellors (VC), the Hindi word for VC has now been changed to 'Kulguru''. Earlier, Kulpati was officially used to refer to Vice-Chancellor, in Hindi.

Around 700-800 teaching post to be filled via PSC every year

Meanwhile, from the nine and a half thousand posts available in the state, the government has already recruited six and a half thousand teachers, reportedly. According to the official, the administration has filled around two and a half thousand posts through Public Service Commission. Further, it has also been decided by the concerned authority that around 700-800 posts will be filled via PSC, every year. The remaining three and a half thousand posts are occupied by guest scholars and teachers coming through public representation.
