Over 12K children in age group 12-14 years received COVID vaccine on Thursday

About 1.15 lakh children in the concerned age group are eligible for vaccination in the Indore

The inoculation of 12 to 14 years olds is ongoing in the 187 authorised vaccination centres across the Indore district. On day 2 of the vaccination drive, only 12,242 children took the vaccine while the target was to vaccinate 20,000 children. The district Health Department was able to only achieve a bit over half the predetermined target.

School exams and festivities become hurdles for the vaccination drive

According to officials, the reasons behind children not showing up for vaccination is the upcoming and ongoing examinations in schools and the fact that Holi and Rangpanchmi festivities just concluded. The District Health Department will be taking the help of the school education department to ensure the inoculation of the children.

About 1.15 lakh children in the concerned age group are eligible for vaccination in the district. On day 1, March 23, over 15K kids were vaccinated. Including the numbers on day 2, over 27,000 kids have received the vaccination shots so far. Even with the target not being met, officials believe that the numbers are better in Indore than in other districts in the state. They also expect that the number of children showing up to vaccination centres will increase in the next few days.
