IDA-IMC to start construction of 6-lane road between Banganga railway crossing & ISBT Indore

New road to connect three railway stations and 3 bus stands.

Indore Development Authority (IDA) has come together with Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) for a new development project. This new project includes the construction of a 6-lane road from the Banganga railway crossing to the MR-10 ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminus). The new road will facilitate the movement of vehicles from the city centre to the outskirts, providing a comfortable travel from Indore to Ujjain.

Easy passage from Indore to Ujjain

With a significant increase in number of vehicles moving between Indore and ujjain, the route has seen major traffic jams and congestion in last few months. In order to accommodate the vehicles, the decision of developing the road at an estimated cost of ₹21.5 crores was made. The foundation stone was laid by the ministers and IDA officials on Monday. The road construction project will also include the construction of a Rail Over Bridge (ROB) at the Banganga railway crossing.

The project will also include the construction of dividers, footpaths, retaining walls and street lights. As per the reports, the 6-lane road will be 30 metres wide and 1.7 km long. The construction of the road will require the relocation and removal of obstructions and the shifting of some residents from the site. However, no decision on that front has been taken by the officials yet.

Road to connect major bus stands and railway stations

Along with solving the busy traffic, the road will also help connect Nehru Park Station, Laxmibai Nagar Station and Main Railway Station as well as ISBT, Gangwal Bus Station, and Sarwate Bus Stand. This will create better accessibility of public transport options for the commuters.
