To protect the ecosystem from harmful and toxic elements found in wastewater, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has approved construction of a primary sewer pipeline and 3 sewage treatment plants in Indore under Namami Gange Project. The primary sewer pipeline will be laid down from Chanakyapuri to Rajmohalla via Annapurna Road, and will pass through Usha Nagar, Vaishnav Polytechnic College, MOG Line and Gangwal Bus Stand.
The work is expected to cost around ₹25.90 crore.
Major water related development by MIC
IMC further plans to upgrade the 12 MLD sewage treatment plant to 120 MLD and construct a 35 MLD STP near Laxmibai statue and a 40 MLD STP in the Kanadia area. Moreover, a consulting firm will be appointed by authorities for proper implementation of sewerage-related works.
Additionally, to address the growing demand of water across Indore, MIC also has plans to hire more water tankers for proper distribution, and will construct new overhead water tanks in the city.
