In pics | Indore adopts ‘Waste to Best’ approach ahead of Swachh Survekshan 2022
With the aim to achieve the title of the cleanest city for the sixth time in a row, Indore has been busy taking some artistic measures. On top of cleaning the city spotless, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has decorated the streets, buildings, public toilets, and other city fixtures with paintings, murals, and sculptures. Most of these projects have been made using scrap material as objects of decorations. Besides that, IMC has also repainted whole neighbourhoods of the economically weaker sections.

Unused items like plastic bottles, wrappers, old tyres and more have been repurposed to create murals on walls. Sculptures have been made by enclosing rocks inside of iron wire meshes at Devguradiya trenching ground. Old furniture and tyres have been painted and hung on trees to make them more attractive. Overbridges and footpaths have also been painted across the city. This smart use of trash is being praised by onlookers all over the city. In addition, people have also started repainting and decorating their personal properties for the survey.
IMC has been working day and night to keep the city spotless and at the same time make it even more beautiful. Numerous internal surveys and inspections were conducted by IMC officials before the Swachh Sarvekshan Survey team reached the city. Officials from various departments are doing their bit to push the city towards victory.

It has been reported that the survey team will examine roads, traffic squares, public toilets, streets, footpaths and back allies. In addition to that, various facilities like sewage treatment plants, CNG plants, and water bodies will also be inspected in an attempt to identify cleanliness.
A total of 7500 points are required by a city to win the annual survey. These points are calculated on various different parameters defined by the Swachh Survekshan committee. All 85 wards in Indore have been made spotless to achieve the feat for the sixth time.
