10,402 covid-19 active cases in MP; night curfew imposed in Indore & 4 other districts

Here's what you need to know-

A night curfew has been imposed in five districts of Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Ratlam and Vidisha. This action was taken after a sudden surge in coronavirus cases in the state and the evident fear of a second-wave. There will be no lockdown pertaining to business or industrial activities and no restrictions on the movement of goods carriers and industrial workers have been imposed either.

Restrictions to be imposed in hotspots, especially in districts with more than 5% covid-19 positive cases. From November 21, public movement will be prohibited from 10 PM to 6 PM in the above mentioned districts. Essential services workers and factory workers will be exempted from the curfew. The CM has assured that the transport of essential services will not be stopped and containment zones can be created in hotspots.

Schools and colleges will remain shut till December 31, only students of classes 9-12 will be allowed to attend classes for guidance. Cinema halls will remain open with 50% operational capacity and will have to mandatorily follow all safety measures.

The CM has ordered regular meetings in context of crisis management, in districts with a substantial rise in coronavirus cases. Collectors can take a call on night curfew, in districts with more than 5% positivity rate. A sudden rise in cases has also been seen in districts like Jabalpur (682 active cases), Sagar (270 cases) and Rewa (234 active cases).

Indore, Bhopal and Gwalior are the worst affected areas in the state with 2324, 2041 and 745 active cases respectively. The current tally of active cases in Madhya Pradesh stands at 10,402. The administration will further be intensifying its drive for wearing masks and fighting the pandemic.
