In a move to promote cleanliness and strengthen the waste disposal system in the city, Indore Municipal Corporation has initiated a new scheme to levy heavy on-spot fines on individuals dumping waste in open spaces. Reportedly, fines of at least ₹5,000 shall be collected from people, who are spotted throwing construction/demolition waste at open spaces or other non-assigned places in the city.
Contact civil authorities through Indore 311 app for waste disposal
As per reports, an official from the municipal body affirmed that building officers have been ordered to collect a fine of ₹5,000 if an individual throws construction or demolition waste in open surroundings. It has been reported that the citizens can contact the local governing body by using the Indore 311 mobile app, to ensure a proper disposal of construction or demolition waste. Reportedly, the municipal body will ensure required aid and assistance and a pre-stated amount will be charged for this purpose.
Construction waste to be transformed into bricks, tiles & other materials
Reportedly, an official connected to the IMC informed that the construction waste will be transformed into construction waste, bricks, manhole covers, interlocking tiles and other materials. Further, reports state that this production is taking place in a plant that has the capacity of dealing with nearly 100 tonnes of construction waste.
Now, with the increase in construction activities in the city after the repeal of lockdown restrictions, the authorities are trying to increase the capacity of the plant. Given the dynamic needs of the present times, such proactive interventions have to be worked out repititively to realise the goals of the Swachcha Bharat Mission.
