Kanh’s water quality to be checked by MPPCB in real-time

2 units of Real Time Water Quality Monitoring System to be installed on the Kanh river in Indore.

Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board (MPPCB) has made the decision of installing Real-Time Water Quality Monitoring System (RTWQMS) at two locations on the Kanh river. The project is inspired by the Ganga Rejuvenation Plan under which 57 such units were installed along the course of the Ganga river. The two installations in the Kanh will cost about Rs. 32 lakhs each. And as per the information shared by the officials, the systems will start working in three months time.

The first location for the system to be installed is downstream in Niranjanpur, Indore. The other location is right before where the Kanh flows into the Kshipra river.

S.N. Patil, lab in charge of MPPCB, said that according to the issued order, the systems will be installed in two locations in Indore. Work for the project is in progress. He also shared that the systems will be connected with the Bhopal office by means of a centralised system. Another MPPCB official added that the sensors will send information about the pollutants in the river to the Bhopal office so that immediate action can be taken for the same.
