Owing to the pandemic, senior secondary and higher secondary exams were cancelled across many states in India. Consequently, Madhya Pradesh’s School Education Department has recently released the evaluation criteria for preparing the results of Class 12 students. The alternate marking scheme shall assess class 12 students based on the marks they obtained in class 10. Notification regarding the same was released via the official Twitter handle of the School Education Department.
Evaluation based on class 10 ‘best of five’ result
The Education Minister of Madhya Pradesh was quoted saying that the class 12 students affiliated with the state board shall be assessed based on their performance in higher secondary exams. The ‘best of five’ papers shall be considered from class 10 while preparing the final results.
Further, it has been noted that all students, whether belonging to the regular or to the self-study programme, shall be passed. Students who are dissatisfied with their results prepared on the said criteria can improve upon their performance by participating in the examination conducted by the state government. However, the chance to do this will be available after the COVID-19 crisis period culminates.
Class 11 and 12 school exam results omitted
Only class 10 results are being considered and class 11 and 12 school results are being omitted, as 2019 was the last year when exams were conducted with full protocol. Hence, vigilance on the part of exam committees and preparedness on the part of students was of the best possible standard. Further, many schools had also opted to give all students a general promotion in class 12, thereby, proper evaluations were not conducted.
