Rural areas in Indore aim for ODF+ tags by the end of March 2020

India's cleanest city is trying to ramp up sanitation across all corners of the district, in a bid to further enhance its environment.

In alignment with the objectives of Swacch Bharat campaign, the Indore administration has decided to aid the rural regions of the district to get ODF+ tags. As per reports, the local governing body aims to ensure that the rural areas are notified as ODF+ spaces by the end of the current financial year. With this deadline, India's cleanest city is trying to ramp up sanitation across all corners of the district, in a bid to further enhance its environment.

As per reports, Collector Manish Singh addressed a meeting of village Sarpanchs and Zila Panchayat officials from different parts of the district. Therein, he asked the public representatives to implement efforts for increasing awareness amongst the citizens. Besides, the authorities should work on schemes, in collaboration with the rural residents and make sure that the goal of ODF+ tags is realised by end of March 2020.

At this meeting, the district authority also requested suggestions and recommendations from the Sarpanchs. Reportedly, he has promised all possible aid to village officials for the collection of property and cleanliness tax from the rural dwellers.

According to reports, the collector spoke about the launch of India's first rural fecal sludge treatment plant in Kali Billod village of Depalpur tehsil. Marking a significant addition to the city's waste management infrastructure, this facility will improve and upgrade sanitation in the city. Given the pace of ambitious projects in Indore, it can be said that the city officials are committed to uplift the surroundings in all possible ways.
