Indore's Soham Patwardhan to captain the India U-19 side in upcoming 4-day matches against Aussies
India's under-19 side is all set for their series against Australia, which will begin on September 21. The IDFC First Bank series will be a multi-formatted affair, featuring three ODIs and two four-day matches. India's squad for the series was announced on Saturday with separate captains for either of the formats.
For the 3-match ODI series, UP's Mohd Amaan has been chosen as the captain while Indore's Soham Patwardhan will be the skipper for the two 4-day matches, which will be played in Puducherry and Chennai.
Ambidextrous spinner and a classy left-handed batter
Soham Patwardhan from Indore is known for being an ambidextrous spinner. This unique skill and his prowess with the bat make him the kind of all-rounder that the game demands today. Soham's inclusion in the India U-19 side as the captain for the red ball format has been the result of a number of impressive performances in recent months.
These performances include centuries for Madhya Pradesh in important games at the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and Cooch Behar Trophy. Now, the 18-year-old will get the opportunity to impress at a bigger stage with his international debut with the India U19 squad.
