Indore's transplant streak: 2 patients in Ahmedabad receive new lease on life from cadaver donor

The heart and lungs of a 24-year-old brain-dead donor from Indore were successfully transplanted into two separate patients in Ahmedabad.

In a remarkable medical feat, a 40-year-old woman from Ahmedabad received a new lease on life with help of a major heart transplant surgery. The procedure involved the Vishesh Jupiter Hospital in Indore, where the vital organs were meticulously extracted and preserved from a 24-year-old brain-dead donor.

Following this crucial step, a special 'Green Corridor' was swiftly established between Indore and Ahmedabad, ensuring the rapid transportation of these life-saving organs. The heart from the cadaver was then transplanted to the 40-year-old woman during an extensive 12-hour surgery at the Marengo CIMS Hospital in Ahmedabad.

Moreover, the lungs from the same patient in Indore were also successfully transplanted into a 46-year-old man at the same hospital of Ahmedabad.

Before this, other medical facilities from Indore have proven effective with the same 'Green Corridor' approach, facilitating intercity transplant efforts, saving lives one corridor at a time.
