Knocksense Shorts | IMC issues order to ban the usage of single-use plastic in Indore
As per the order issued by Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) earlier this week, the use of single-use plastic will be banned in Indore from July 2022. The move is aimed at making the city cleaner and greener.
What is Single-use plastic?
Single-use plastic is primarily made of fossil fuel-based chemicals. According to Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2021, single-use plastic is used only once before being disposed. Banned products include plastic sticks along with earbuds, plastic sticks used in balloons, plastic rods, candy sticks along with a bunch of items that are made up of plastic or PBC using less than 100-micron thickness.
IMC in its order issued this week urged the citizens to follow certain guidelines in order to curb the use of single-use plastic.
Avoid demanding polybags in market.
Switch thermocal products with metal glass, plates and spoons.
Avoid mixing water with disposable waste.
Educate people around about plastic hazards and its substitutes.
