Indore has once again captured attention with its Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport. As the Indore airport has become the first airport in Madhya Pradesh to operate entirely on green energy. This measure has been taken to protect the environment and create a clean and green surrounding.
The airport’s annual electricity consumption is 52.85 million units, out of which it generates 24% of its power through self-sustained renewable sources. The remaining green energy is procured from Madhya Pradesh Western Region Power Distribution Company. Moreover, this development has placed Indore Airport among the notable 44 airports across the country, that function entirely on green energy.
As per the directions of the Airport Authority of India, all the airports have been instructed to maximize the production of green energy and should focus on procuring electricity from renewable sources. The authorities have highlighted that even though generating electricity from coal and dams is a conventional method but it is harmful to the environment.
Therefore as a step towards environmental protection, Indore Airport has made a transition to Fully Green Energy-Powered operations. It is a significant achievement and a massive step towards promoting a greener aviation industry.
