In celebration of the India Meteorological Department's 150th anniversary, the Airport Meteorological Office at Indore Airport hosted an enlightening tour for students. Young minds explored the center, gaining insights into meteorological works and advancements. Equipped with an automatic weather station near the runway for real-time updates, Meteorologists demonstrated instruments monitoring temperature, humidity, air pressure, and visibility.

The tour also delved into IMD's crucial role in aiding the Airport Authority with air traffic control. Meteorologist Vivek Chhalotre highlighted the Sunshine Recorder's significance, shedding light on its role in recording daily sunshine duration. Students were captivated by the explanations on visibility's impact on aviation and the historic 1944 London-made barometer used for manual air pressure measurement. The tour not only celebrated a meteorological milestone but also ignited curiosity about the fascinating world of weather science.
