Promoting regional cinema, Chitra Bharati Film Festival to kickstart today in Bhopal

Masterclass on film making to be conducted by the regional directors

With an aim to promote regional cinema, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Mass Communication will host the three days long Chitra Bharati Film Festival. Organised by Bhartiya Chitra Sadhna, this fourth edition of the festival will begin on the evening of March 25 and will conclude on March 27 at the Ravindra Bhawan Convention Centre.

120 films to be screened in the Chitra Bharati Film Festival

The festival will witness the screening of 120 films out of 712 films submitted by 22 states. Broadly, there are 4 categories of films to be showcased, Animation, Campus Films, Short Films, and Documentaries. A number of eminent personalities, including actor Akshay Kumar will also attend the film festival as guests. Apart from these directors, former actor and Vice-Chancellor of Pandit Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts, Gajendra Chauhan will also attend the three-day workshop.

Additionally, Masterclasses on film making has also been scheduled on all three days of the event. Regional Directors and artists like T.S. Nagabharana (Kannada), Subhash Sahu (Oriya), Vivek Agnihotri, Vaman Kendre, film critic Anant Vijay, voice artist Harish Bhimani and Sharat Bhattatiripad will be taking a masterclass on all three days. These masterclasses by industry professionals will be aimed at providing, essential guiding principles and allowing an opportunity to gain an intensive introduction to directing for film.

Followed by Open Forum of film director Abhinav Kashyap, the event will be concluded with a closing ceremony by Union Minister of State, Information and Broadcasting, Loganathan Murugan as the chief guest.
