New hydraulic parking lot in Indore's Khajuri market to resolve road congestion issues

The facility will be able to accommodate over 450 vehicles at a time.

In order to solve the issue of traffic congestion due to haphazard parking of cars and bikes at Rajwada Market, and nearby areas, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) is taking on a new initiative. They announced the setting up of a hydraulic parking lot at Khajuri market. The facility is expected to accommodate over 450 vehicles at a time.

The project is planned under the Indore Smart City initiative, and will come up in an area of 10,000 sq ft, at an estimated cost of ₹6.75 crores.

Hi-tech automatic parking systems in place

The upcoming parking lot which will be built at Khajuri market will accommodate 200 two-wheelers and 260 four-wheelers at a time. The Rajwada zone is a part of old Indore that remains heavily congested. This is primarily due to local markets, old house structures and narrow roads. This jam packed condition leaves no space for parking, which in turn leads to road blockades and wrongfully parked vehicles.

Addressing the issues at hand, the 450-vehicle parking facility will be a multi-level space, bringing about smooth movement of traffic in the market by curbing road-side parking. Additionally, the hi-tech automatic parking and unparking system will offer ease to vehicle owners while eliminating parking woes even during rush hours.

Reportedly, the work towards this multi-level parking space is expected to start after Diwali and should be complete within the next six months.
