Nurturing Indore-based startups, Holkar Science College gets its first incubation centre

The centre's primary objective is to function as a springboard for aspiring entrepreneurs of the city.

Similar to the incubation cells in IITs, which are dedicated to fostering startups in their local cities and adjacent regions, Holkar Science College in Indore will now have the capability to empower entrepreneurs based in the city. This government-autonomous institution has recently established an on-campus incubation centre, marking a pioneering initiative of its kind.

As the inaugural incubation center in the region, this facility spans an impressive 7,000 sq. ft. and boasts state-of-the-art research amenities. Its primary objective is to function as a springboard for aspiring entrepreneurs, encompassing not only the institute's alumni seeking to establish their startups but also the wider community of Indore-based entrepreneurs.

Nation's first startup cell to be developed in a science institute

Where incubation centres are typically situated within engineering institutes, this represents a groundbreaking development in the country, being the first of its kind established within a science institution.

The incubation centre at Holkar Science College will play a pivotal role in guiding individuals who will generate innovative ideas and aspire to launch their startups. Furthermore, it will assist these future entrepreneurs by providing essential funding, closely monitoring their operations and progress, and granting them access to the cutting-edge research facilities that will be allocated to the incubation center.

Plans underway to establish 19 such incubation centres across MP

The MP government is also planning to establish 19 additional incubation centers across various districts of the state, each being affiliated with a government institution within its designated district.

These incubation centres, whether IIT Delhi's Foundation of Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) or IIT Kanpur's Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), have consistently demonstrated their effectiveness in nurturing and fostering nascent businesses and startups. It is anticipated that the newly established incubation facility at Holkar Science College in Indore will yield similar results.
