To maintain peace and public order, Indore Police Commissioner has issued a prohibitory order under Section 163 of Indian Justice Code, 2023. This directive will remain in force until July 4, 2025, as confirmed by the District Collector’s official post on X.
Violators will face action u/s 223 of Indian Justice Code. These measures aim to ensure Indore remains peaceful and secure against potential threats to public order.
Highlights of the order

No public events that may provoke hostility between communities are allowed within city limits.

Provocative speeches, communal statements, or misinformation, whether in person or online, are strictly banned.

Posting religious symbols or content on social media in a way that may incite tension is a punishable offence.

Stockpiling of bricks, stones, flammables substances, explosives or glass bottles in open areas or on rooftops is forbidden to prevent misuse.

Improper publications that could stir communal unrest are not allowed.

False rumours or misleading content, especially via digital platforms, are banned.

Social media group admins will be held responsible for content shared.

Inflammatory posts must be deleted immediately.

Cybercafés must maintain detailed visitor logs, verify IDs using official documents, and install webcams to photograph users. Records must be preserved for at least six months.
