The exclusive museum features approximately 20 electricity meters, ranging from past generations, to the modern-day smart meters currently installed across various cities. Notably, some meters from previous eras have been imported and are on display, adding to the uniqueness of this collection of power meters in Indore.

Meticulously preserved collection of vintage electricity meters

The most captivating aspect of this remarkable museum is the preservation of the oldest electricity meters that were utilized from 1960 to 1990, all of which are still in good condition. These vintage meters were crafted using substantial amounts of metal and magnets, making them susceptible to tampering.

Nevertheless, the engineers from Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Limited, the overseeing body of the museum, have meticulously exhibited these meters, ensuring their excellent condition is maintained.

What variety of meters are displayed in the museum?

The centrepiece of this extraordinary collection is the electromechanical induction meter, a true vintage gem. This rare meter, weighing 4 kg, was carefully sourced from overseas and was used during previous times.

The collection also boasts an impressive array of semi-electromechanical meters and radio frequency-based meters, demonstrating how advancements in communication have impacted electricity measurement.

Furthermore, the newer SIM-operated devices and meters equipped with bluetooth technology offer a glimpse into the cutting-edge smart metering solutions of today.
