Two health facilities in Indore that are still under construction have been assigned 9 patient transportation vehicles by the District Health authorities. Since the facilities are under construction, it must be noted that the various health facilities are still not working like they regularly would, resulting in the assigned ambulances being underutilized at these health centers.
The district currently has 51 patient transportation vehicles
One of these two facilities, the Mangilal Churiya Hospital in Indore, has a fleet of four such transportation vehicles including 2 Janani Express, one advance life support (ALS) vehicle and one Basic Life Support (BLS) vehicle. However, the said health facility is currently taking patients only during the day, resulting in four of its life saving vehicles not being used effectively.
On the other hand, health facilities in Indore that are operating full-fledged are facing an overload because of these patient transportation vehicles going underutilized at the said under construction facilities. Commenting on the situation, CMHO Dr. BS Satya reassured that “The rationalization of the transportation vehicles are being carried out. The issues would be resolved.”
The district currently has 51 patient transportation vehicles along with 26 Janani Express vehicles that are specially used for transporting pregnant women and their infants to health facilities across the city. The District Health Authorities recently added 17 new transportation vehicles to Indore’s growing fleet of ambulances.
In the near future, it is expected that all live saving vehicles be used to their fullest potential.
