Meet Shivani Meena from Rajasthan, India's 1st female excavation engineer!

IIT Jodhpur alumnus from Bharatpur, Shivani has been deputed to work in a mechanised open cast mine of Coal India's arm CCL.

Trumping social stereotypes and redefining gender roles, Rajasthan's Shivani Meena has become the first woman in the nation to don the cap of an excavation engineer. Marking her entry in a male dominated field, the IIT Jodhpur alumnus from Bharatpur has been deputed to work in a mechanised open cast mine at Coal India's arm CCL(Central Coalfields Limited). While the girl has definitely unlocked a new path for herself, she has also become an unmatched symbol of female grit fortitude!

Responsible for the maintenance & repair of HEMM

With dreams of becoming an engineer and achieving great heights, Shivani had been a hard working girl since her childhood. Her dedication paid off when her first posting was announced at CCL's Rajrappa project, which is known to be one the most important coal mining enterprises.

Reportedly, her job entails the responsibility of maintenance and repair of heavy earth moving machinery (HEMM). While only men were designated for this work till now, the young girl has shattered multiple glass ceiling though her latest accomplishment.

A liberal India's stepping stone!

Previously, Akanksha Kumari had broken the social barriers by becoming the first Indian woman to be appointed as a mining engineer in an underground shaft. She was employed at the Churi facility at CCL in North Karanpura area in Jharkhand. Now, Shivani's appointment will further drive the goals of gender equality and liberalism in the coal mining sector.

The central government is working on ample opportunities to open the doors for women in the various facets of industry. Many aspiring engineers have found their inspiration in the success stories of Shivani and Akanksha, who not only earned glory for themselves and their families but also became a motivation for others throughout the country.

UP to soon get a new 200-acre-wide data centre park

The new data centre will come up in Noida's Sector-28
