Students of classes 6th, 7th and 8th in Jaipur will finally return to school starting February 8, Monday. As per the district authorities, this relaxation has been offered in view of the steady decline in the number of coronavirus cases in the city. Similar guidelines have also been issued for first and second-year undergraduate students, first term postgraduate students as well. Besides, swimming pools, multiplexes and cinema halls have also been permitted to re-open in the Pink City.
Jaipur eases COVID restrictions as cases fall
Jaipur has contained the growth of coronavirus cases to a weekly average of 24 infections, a great respite from last year’s sky-rocketing transmission rate. This general slow down in the spread of COVID-19 in the city has boosted the administrative confidence to award relaxations to Jaipur. Consequently, starting Monday, January 8, schools will resume for classes 6th, 7th and 8th in adherence to the COVID guidelines. According to this, about 50% of the students will be allowed to attend classes each day.
Physical-classroom programmes for senior classes of 9 to 12 are already functioning in this format, read reports. Additionally, first-year and second-year college students (UG programmes) and first semester students (PG programmes) too will also return to colleges from February 8. Educational institutes need to ensure that they follow all precautionary protocols to curb the COVID-spread including, maintenance of social distancing, frequent sanitisation of hands and usage of masks, stated officials.
Swimming pools, multiplexes and cinema halls are also allowed to resume operations. Meanwhile, the attendee strength at social events has also been raised to double. The guest limit for gatherings and functions has also been increased to 200 from the earlier 100.
