The practice of kite flying is almost synonymous with not just Jaipur, but all of Rajasthan. As kids, kite flying was an essential part of our weekend routine and now, it is time to step back into the world of nostalgia and head over to the International Kite Festival in Jaipur.

During the festival of Makar Sankranti, the skies of Jaipur are taken over by kites, as far as the eyes can see. This is a common practice and that is exactly why there’s an International Kite Flying festival around the same time. Essentially, flying kites during Makar Sankranti is a way of celebrating the festival and spreading joy among all.
As for the kite flying festival itself, it is surely something you should experience at least once in your life. If you’re not a Jaipurite, then this is something that will take you by immense surprise and we can safely say that the experience will be unlike any other you’ve had.
If you’re a kite flyer yourself, then you can either partake in the kite war or just some friendly flying here at the festival. In case you’re not a kite flyer yourself, then you can surely enjoy the views as well as the unparalleled experience. The colourful kites will fill up the sky and you’re certainly going to want to take all the pictures you can- just so that you can light up your Instagram feed.
