Ever heard of a multi-story apartment just for birds? Sounds bizarre, doesn’t it? Well, the Pink City of India, Jaipur features one such structure which was specially erected this year to provide shelter to our avian friends in the town.
The hueful 6-storey minaret stands tall in the Pinjrapol Gaushala, which is an animal welfare centre in the Sanganer area of the city. With multiple minute gate-like openings, the ‘Bird Apartment’ can accommodate more than 2,000 birds at a time.
Specially aerated flats, eating and drinking facility, all available for birds!
The 80 foot tall bird tower has been named Chidiya Teerth by authorities as the centre and the exterior of the tower has been beautified using vivid colour shades. Not only this, the quirky-looking abode has been plastered using clay from the inside to make it feel homely to the birds and to keep the structure aerated during the summers. At the same time, workers at the gaushala also provide feed for the birds living inside the structure, and the birds really dig the place, as they tend to always head on back here!
Authorities at the Pinjrapol Gaushala constructed this tower after considering the increasing deforestation in the urban area. This in turn leads to the loss of habitat for birds.
The Pinjrapol Gaushala is one of the oldest animal welfare organizations of Jaipur which was established back in 1907. The centre consists of a cow care facility and also provides medical aid for other stray animals.
