According to the official data of the Medical and Health Department, a total of 2,656 people tested positive for coronavirus in the state on January 6, more than half of which were detected in the capital city alone. Apart from the Pink City, 360 people in Jodhpur, 144 in Alwar, 90 in Chittorgarh, 89 in Udaipur, 87 in Ajmer, 82 in Bikaner, 79 in Bharatpur and 59 in Kota tested COVID positive in the state taking Rajasthan's cumulative tally to 9,63,109 cases. Notably, a total of 7,268 people infected with this deadly virus are currently undergoing treatment in the state.

While 404 recoveries were marked across the state on Thursday, no COVID-related fatality was reported in Rajasthan, suggest reports. With an unchanged death toll at 8,967, Rajasthan has seen 9,46,874 recoveries ever since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Vaccination drive going in full swing across the state

As of Thursday, a total of 8,45,67,427 beneficiaries in the state have been administered with at least a single dose of vaccine, said an official from the Health Department. Out of these, 8,31,73,748 people belong to the 18 and above age group, whereas 13,93,679 teenagers aged 15-17 have been inoculated at least once in the state as well.

Notably, with the initiation of vaccination for those between 15-18 from January 3, the scope of immunity in Rajasthan has increased in the state. With the vaccination drive going in full swing, this measure acts as a much-needed booster dose against the Omicron-led third wave.
